Our owner was just 10 years old when he started volunteering at a local farm

Our owner Stephen Champion was 10 years old when his family moved to an extremely rural environment; a move that would only encourage his interest in animals.

Stephen grew up surrounded by creatures – goats, chickens, cats and dogs - and it wasn’t long before he became involved with the day-to-day running of a local farm. He started with milking the cows and feeding the cattle until he was invited to volunteer on a more permanent basis.

“Spending all my free time on the farm only fed my passion for animal care. And as soon as I started tailing the farm vet, there was no doubt in my mind that a life in veterinary medicine was what I wanted.”

After studying for 5 years at Edinburgh University, Stephen graduated and was able to pursue the career that he had worked so hard for. He spent time working with both small and large animals and went on to acquire his first practice in 2000.

Over the last 15 years Stephen has gone above and beyond what is expected of a veterinary surgeon and as a result, he has gained a reputation as a highly respected vet in Glasgow and the surrounding areas.

Get your dog the security of microchipping – it will soon be the law!

Dog being microchipped

Attention dog owners: did you know that it will become the law to have your canine companion microchipped from April 2016? Around 60% of pet dogs in the UK are already microchipped, but that still leaves two in every five dogs lacking the security of microchipping, not to mention the staggering 100,000 stray cur currently living in the UK.

Having your dog microchipped is a procedure no more complex or painful than a simple vaccination. The microchip – no bigger than a grain of rice - is inserted under the dog’s skin coated in bio-compatible glass, which means it will not be rejected by the dog’s body. The owner’s address and contact details are registered to the chip, making it easy to reunite the dog to their owner should they ever be lost or stolen.
